Sick at night
If high fever is the problem, consult the fever routine?instructions. Temperatures are?usually higher at night?with most illnesses. Record the temperature with a thermometer at least once each evening while your child is sick.
A rectal temperature is desired in children less than 5 years of age but an axillary (arm pit) temperature can be substituted.
In children over 5 years of age, oral temperature should be obtained.
In judging the severity of the illness, first?eliminate the effects of fever such as chills, irritability, & listlessness?by lowering the temperature.
